We waste too much of it. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Two log cabins in the Swedish forest

Hej and welcome!

Every summer, I swap the Eifel for the Swedish forest. Here, the pine trees are taller than many houses, the river is just a few steps away and, at some point, your phone simply stays in the drawer.

Two log cabins are waiting for you.
No reception desk, no programme, no dress code. Just nature: water, trees, forest, wildlife and silence — and a day that belongs entirely to you.

This is what a day here might feel like

6:00

Mist is still hanging over the river. You can see the water — and somewhere in the forest, a woodpecker is tapping.

8:30

You drink your coffee barefoot on the terrace. There is nothing urgent waiting for you.

11:00

You step outside. In summer, you return with a handful of blueberries and blue fingers.

15:00

You settle down on the sofa with a book. An hour later, you wake up with the open book resting on your chest.

19:00

The wood crackles in the fireplace. You cook something simple and eat by the window with a view of nature.

22:30

In June, it is still light outside. You sit on the bench outside the cabin and realise: you have not looked at the clock once all day.

The times above?
After two days, you will have forgotten what time it is.

The larger of the two cabins. Here, you can sit in front of the natural-stone fireplace and look out over the Österdalälven river. When it rains, you can drink tea on the covered terrace and listen to the drops falling on the roof.

The bedroom has a double bed that can be made up as two single beds if needed. The living room has a bunk bed for friends.

Living room in Fiskarstugan with open door to the terrace

Fiskar — with fishing close at hand

Fiskarstugan

New since summer 2026: sun terrace

Small, simple and cosy. In the morning, you open the terrace door and the forest is right outside. Anglers especially love this cabin: their waders have time to dry overnight, and the next morning you are ready for another day by the river.

Up to four people can sit at the dining table. There is a bunk bed and a sofa bed with a width of 140 cm.

Are you interested in fishing?

Then you may already know the Österdalälven. Anglers come from far and wide to cast their flies here. From both cabins, you can walk directly down to the water.

Early in the morning, while the mist is still lying over the river, you can stand completely alone in the water.

Blåbärsstugan in the snow

What is winter like?

The snow crunches beneath your boots. Inside, you place another log in the fireplace and hang your wet gloves over the stove.

In December, it gets dark at around three o’clock. You light candles, cook soup on the wood-burning stove — and go to bed at nine. Simply because you are tired — and because you can.
